It’s our 10 year anniversary at Handwritten Wines and we are opening our brand new home in Downtown Yountville. Our focus is to provide a premiere wine and culinary experience in the wine country. We are excited to bring together a team that represents groundbreaking experiences, in hospitality and wine knowledge.

Job Description:

Our personal wine curators will host private tastings while providing the best wine experiences and hospitality in the Napa Valley. The ideal candidate will report to the Director and Tasting Room Manager of Handwritten Wines. Hospitality driven and wine knowledge is a must with a “yes” mentality, with and ability to tell the story of our wines and brand.
This is an exciting time as Handwritten builds our presence in the Napa Valley and beyond while exponentially growing our wine club and driving traffic to our new Yountville home.

Handwritten Wines started in 2009 with a vision of creating wines from mountain and hillside Napa Valley Districts sourced from 2-acre blocks throughout the Napa Valley. We provide our guests with exceptional personal wine tasting experiences while showcasing and describing our small lots wines. Our current case production totals 2,000, with 9 Napa Valley District Cabernet Sauvignon wines sourced from single designated vineyards. Our portfolio also includes ‘The Author’ Sauvignon Blanc, Carneros Chardonnay, and our outlier, a stunning Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir.

Responsibilities:
-Start your day with a great attitude
-Prepare the tasting room for our guests – set tables, pour wines, print welcome page for guests and other collateral, polish glasses, prepare food pairings
-Host, present, and explain Handwritten Wines, our story, educate guests, sell Allocation Club and wines
-Enter in daily sales, notes about guests into POS system, send thank you notes to guests and new Allocation members
-Ensure all opening and closing procedures are followed correctly
-Stock wine and retail inventory
-Help maintain a clean and tidy environment inside and outside our conservatory
-Identify and implement strategies for growth
-Industry outreach – attend industry events, make connections with hotel staff, drivers and Napa Valley locals
-Work with internal teams – loyalty relations, wine club, marketing, wine production, Jessup Cellars, and management

Expectations and other requirements:
-Must have excellent knowledge of wine and food with enthusiasm to continually learn new information and share knowledge with guests and other co-workers
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills (via telephone, e-mail, and face-to-face) are required
-Enthusiastic, passionate and dynamic communication style
-Comfortable speaking in front of small to large crowds
-Must have a positive attitude and outlook with the ability to work within a team atmosphere
-Must remain calm under pressure
-Must be able to work flexible schedule, weekends – day and evening
-Must be age 21 years of age
-Must be able to lift 50lbs
-Must be able to work and stand for long periods of time
-Tips Certified or equivalent (or complete training within 60 days of hire)
-Dress code – business casual, neat appearance, no heavy colognes or perfumes
-Professional appearance and demeanor
-Wine education – WSET, Somm or other certifications
-Three years’ experience with a luxury wine brand a plus
-Think of your co-workers as your work family
