Waiheke Island is only a short 40 min commute from Auckland CBD, the island boasts white pristine sandy beaches, balmy blue seas, holiday homes, vineyards and olive groves.
Our vineyard is seeking a skilled and experienced Viticulturist to build on our reputation and to oversee all aspects of vineyard operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for viticulture, a keen eye for detail, and a proven track record of successfully managing a vineyard.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all vineyard operations, including planting, pruning, trellising, canopy management, irrigation, and pest management.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive vineyard management plan.
- Manage all aspects of harvest, including scheduling, grape picking, and grape processing.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and industry standards.
- Manage vineyard budgets and work within financial constraints.
- Work closely with the winemaking team to ensure grapes are of the highest quality and meet the winery's production needs.
- Manage and train vineyard staff to ensure they are performing to the best of their abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in viticulture, horticulture, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience managing a vineyard, including experience with both red and white grape varieties.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work long hours and in various weather conditions.
- Experience with sustainable and organic farming practices is a plus.
