Dehlinger 2023 Harvest Cellar Hand (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Contract

  Dehlinger Winery

  Sebastopol, California

Dehlinger is a small, family run winery that has been in operation since 1975. Our wines have a national reputation that outstrips our physical size. We focus on producing the highest quality Estate grown Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Dehlinger Ranch in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley.

We are seeking two highly motivated Harvest Cellar Hands to join our staff for the 2023 harvest season.

Harvest experience at Dehlinger is very rewarding and offers the opportunity to work closely with the winemaking team in a quality-focused, intellectual environment. The experience will be dynamic and includes many aspects of the vineyard and cellar.

Our Harvest Cellar Hands can expect training and experience in the following:
•  Vine maturity sampling
•  Grape harvesting
•  Fruit processing: including destemmer and press operation
•  Inoculations using various yeast strains
•  Fermentation monitoring
•  Cap management: punchdowns & pumpovers
•  Tank and equipment sanitation
•  Barrel work (racking, cleaning & filling)
•  Forklift operation
•  Bottling assistance

The preferred start date is Tuesday August 1st 2023. The projected end date is sometime between the end of October and early November. The actual end date is dependent on the season.

During the peak harvest period which is usually the month of September and the first half of October, our Harvest Cellar Hands will be expected to work 5 or 6 days a week. During the non-peak periods our Harvest Cellar Hands are expected to work 4 or 5 days per week. This is dependent on the season.

Compensation is $20 per hour with overtime based on California law.

We can also provide shared rental housing that is walking distance from the winery for $750 per month if desired. Utilities included.

Because we have a small staff, our Harvest Cellar Hands must be dependable, adaptable and be able to commit to the harvest period and not drop out prior to or during harvest.

Ideal qualifications:
•  Passion for wine and a desire to have a career in the wine industry
•  Coursework in Viticulture and Enology
•  Previous wine industry experience
•  Forklift experience
•  Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
•  Ability to work long and variable hours
•  Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, such as lifting up to 50 pounds, repetitive movements, bending down, and ascend/descend ladders
•  Reliability and schedule flexibility
•  Ability to lawfully work in the USA.

To apply you must include:
