Hanna Winery in Santa Rosa, CA is seeking cellar workers who are passionate about making wine, have a positive attitude, good communication skills, are detail oriented, and willing to work hard while complying with safe workplace requirements.
Job duties: Duties include all aspects of elevage, harvest and bottling. Including, but not limited to, barrel work, cleaning and sanitation, racking, filtering, bottling line QA, sorting and processing grapes; floating and filtering juice, racking juice and wine, filling barrels; pumpovers, punchdowns, draining and pressing, shoveling pomace, sampling, making additions, bottling, and forklift work. Vineyard work may include crop estimation and grape sampling.
Qualifications: Requires basic reading, writing and math. Must be able to read, understand and perform duties listed on work orders. Must be able to understand and complete work orders, including measurements. Ability to work efficiently and safely, learn multiple winemaking techniques. English and or Spanish fluency required with preference for Bilingual candidates.
Prior Experience: 1+ year’s cellar experience preferred.
Hours & Duration: There two full-time temporary positions. Position 1 has a flexible start date: May 20 to June 3 and ends in December. Position typically 40 hours per week, except for bottling and harvest when OT is required. During the height of harvest, the schedule may be 6 days a week and up to 12 hours a day. Position 2 begins in mid-August and ends in December.
Physical Demands: Employee must be able to stand and/or walk for up to 12 hours a day, lift, pull, and carry 50 lb on a repetitive basis. The employee will be required to sit, stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, stoop, kneel and crouch on a frequent basis.
Work Environment: Duties will be performed in temperature extremes, in all weather conditions. The work will be both inside the cellar and outside on the crush pad.
Salary: hourly, DOE.
Hanna Winery has estate vineyards in three Sonoma County appellations. We produce Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley; Cab Sauv, Malbec and Petit Verdot from Alexander Valley; and Cab, Cab Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Zinfandel from our Bismark Mountain Vineyard in the Moon Mountain District above Sonoma Valley.
