The Position
Vivino is looking for a VP Sales, who will lead a team of 6 FTE with the main focus of signing up new wine merchants and setting them up on the Vivino Checkout platform.
Targeted Profile (Required / Highly Preferred / Preferred)
- Years of Experience. 10+ years of progressive sales experience (Required).
- Industry Experience. 3+ years of experience selling to B2B, SMB and local merchants (Required).
- International Sales Experience. 5+ years of experience selling to US markets (Required). Experience selling to European markets (Preferred, Not Required).
- Start-Up Experience. 3+ years of experience working in a scrappy, unstructured, figure-it-out Start-Op environment (Required).
- Management Experience. 3+ years of management experience (Required). Ability to manage a team of 4 - 6 FTE (Required). Ability to recruit, hire and manage global staff up to 10 FTE (Required).
Vivino Checkout Business Model
Vivino Checkout is the marketplace created by Vivino. We have 19+ million users on the app and website – the demand side of the marketplace is established with millions of potential wine buyers. The next step is to build the supply side – specifically finding wine merchants, large conglomerate merchants down to mom-and-pop corner store merchants that can supply and ship wine to Vivino users.
In June 2016, Vivino Checkout was launched. Vivino users can now buy wine directly through the Vivino app and website – all under one beautiful, easily accessible, unified checkout process. The big push now is to build the supply of merchants on the platform – and get as many wine merchants on board as humanly possible.
The process to sell Vivino Checkout to wine merchants is relatively short and simple. The initial contact is made by our inside sales team -- and involves an email or phone call to the wine merchant. At that point, conversion is very high – roughly 70% - 80% of all wine merchants contacted sign up for the Vivino Checkout platform. We associate the high conversion rate with the fact that most all wine merchants know Vivino – and love Vivino. Over the entire process, our biggest challenge is finding the decision maker at the wine merchant. Once found, the sales process flows easily.
Today, our focus is on the United States wine merchants. We just opened up our platform to wine merchants in the United Kingdom (UK). Our plan is to open the platform globally while targeting the US market first and European market second.
