As a Visitor Center Host, you will be responsible for educating guests and pouring wine for guests who are over 21 years of age, as well as attempting to sell the guest additional wine or merchandise. VC Hosts are encouraged to sign guests up to our Wine Club or mailing list. VC Hosts must be able to conduct winery tours as well as ring up sales on a cash register at our Artesa Winery, located in Napa Valley.

Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for presenting a professional, polite and pleasant demeanor to the public at all times and under all circumstances.
- Hosting visitors tasting and guided tours as outlined in staff training.
- Complete sales of wine and retail merchandise in the retail shop. Salesmanship is an important aspect of the V.C. Host position.
- Responsible for identifying and not serving alcohol to minors under the age of 21 years of age.
- Responsible for assisting with visitor center sales and daily operations.
- Participate in opening and closing tasks which include:
- Turn on and off all lights, including downstairs
- Restock wine and non-wine inventory
- Separate and tally tasting wines
- Ring in all private tours, samples, comps and pours, if not already done
- Arrange and wipe down all outside and inside tables and chairs
- At the end of the day, lock the reception, terrace, courtyard and handicapped doors
Other Job Functions
- Host group visitors as designated by Hospitality Managers.
- Responsible for assisting with visitors center sales and tasting area’s daily operations.
- Restock retail merchandise.
- Restock tasting area with glassware and supplies.
- Restock bottle and case good inventories.
- Monitor and restock P.O.S. materials; brochures, maps, etc.
- Monitor and restock sales materials; bags, boxes, register materials.
- Clean and sanitize tasting area surfaces; table tops, chairs, counters, etc.
- Pack wine and dry goods for shipping
- Handle daily duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Hospitality, Visitor Center Management , and/or the Lead VC Host.
- Set-up and break down of special events as scheduled by management.
- Maintenance of Visitors Center policies as established by management including projects as assigned.
- Responsible for attending monthly staff meetings.
- Help to maintain a clean and attractive retail shop and tasting room.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 48 pounds (weight of one case of sparkling wine)
- Ability to stand for several hours while pouring for large tour groups or private parties.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs when conducting tours.
- Ability to speak fluent English in front of a large number of people.
Skills
- Able to perform frequent cash register transactions including ringing up sales, handling cash and credit cards, and processing shipping orders.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
