Premium Oakville Cabernet producer has immediate opening for a full time cellar hand to assist our winemaking team in all aspects of wine production. Ideal candidate would have at least 2 years of experience in winery cellar operations, knowledge of wine chemistry analysis, and possess the skills, and motivation to help implement our written procedures and our winemaking philosophy. A degree in Enology or related field would be advantageous. Individuals selected for this position must be reliable, punctual, have a good work ethic, possess effective communication skills, be able to follow written and verbal instructions and must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime and varying shifts. Candidates must have a positive attitude and the ability to foster our team oriented working culture. Applicants must be able to consistently perform in a professional manner while working with a small team especially under the pressure and demands of this industry.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Safe operation, cleaning, sanitizing and sterilizing of all winery equipment and facilities.
Understands pump types and appropriate usages
Racking and transferring of juice and wine from various vessels (i.e. tankers, tanks, barrels)
Basic wine analysis
Make wine and juice chemistry adjustments
Barrel skills - i.e. scanning, racking, filling, topping, cleaning, and ozone application, basic repair
Bottling line sanitation and prep
Forklift operations
Follows, observes, and helps to enforce all safe cellar practices.
Sufficient English reading, writing and math skills
