Winery Estate Tasting Room Host (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Job Description:

Thomas George Estates is a small family-owned Russian River Valley Winery producing award winning, terroir-driven Single Vineyard and Single Block wines. We are eager to welcome an enthusiastic new member onto our team. Ideal candidates will be professional and sales driven, have outstanding hospitality skills and a deep passion for wine. Knowledge of wine and the Russian River Valley AVA in particular would be welcomed, however we’re happy to train the right people when we find them. This is a multi-faceted position which will require initiative, attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities-
Creating an unparalleled tasting experience by providing outstanding customer service for our guests is our team’s number one priority. We maintain a professional, educational and engaging atmosphere in order to provide memorable experiences in the tasting room and cave at our estate. Great time management and the ability to recognize and prioritize guest’s needs with particular attention to time-sensitive issues is required. Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail are necessary skills that allow our team to work together efficiently and meet all of our goals.

Daily responsibilities for these positions include, but are not limited to:

•  Opening and closing the tasting room and cave
•  Stocking merchandise and supplies as needed
•  Hosting and educating our guests about our products, history, and approach to wine-making and wine appreciation
•  Accurately handling daily transactions through our POS and reservation systems
•  Selling wine and actively recruiting new members for our wine club
•  Accumulating and updating wine club memberships and contact information
•  Processing tasting room, phone, website orders and returns, accurately
•  Pouring responsibly and serving graciously throughout the day
•  Clearing tables efficiently throughout the day
•  Helping to maintain the cleanliness of the facility, TR, picnic area, cave, bathrooms, etc.
•  Polishing glassware
•  Representing the company and brand professionally and enthusiastically

Qualifications-

•  Must be at least 21 years of age
•  Hospitality, sales, and wine industry experience preferred- tasting room, fine dining, hotel, special events, private club, etc.
•  Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and be on your feet for long periods of time throughout the day
•  Execute key functions of our POS and computer systems proficiently
•  Ability to multitask while providing exceptional experiences to our guests
•  Must have a commitment to excellence, high standards and a strong work ethic
•  Openness to taking direction from supervisors in order to execute tasks

Schedule- This is a part-time weekend position

•  Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
•  The part-time position will consist of about 18-24 hours per week with possible overtime on the weekends or for special events.
•  On major Holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day the Winery is closed.
