Tasting Room Sales Associate (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Merriam Vineyards is a small family owned winery seeking a part time Tasting Room Sales Associate. We will train a candidate on all the specifics of our brand, wines, and vineyards and are seeking someone who wants to learn about wine and the wine industry and has a fun, outgoing personality. This is a part time position that includes weekends, holidays and some evenings.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates a memorable experience for each guest that go beyond customer’s expectations.
- Sells wine and Wine Club Memberships.
- Build relationships with customers that foster brand loyalty.
- Describes wines, winemaking techniques, and winery history to customers.
- Leads winery and vineyard tours.
- Answers visitors’ questions and provides general tourist information.
- Opens and closes tasting room and winery according to opening and closing procedures.
- Assist at special events and functions as needed on and off site.
- Handles routine transactions in POS system, which include Commerce7.
- Restocks wine and retail merchandise as needed.
- Assists with Wine Club duties, entering, updating and contacting members.
- Help to prepare and package wine club shipments.
- Assists with counting monthly physical inventories.
- Able to lift 50lbs repeatedly.
- Ability to follow policies and procedures.
- Take initiative to complete guest requests and any tasks or projects assigned by management.
- Participate with and support the team environment.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellence in creating and providing guest experiences in keeping with Merriam’s core values and brand image.
- An ability to communicate with visitors in a down to earth, confident, knowledgeable, warm and friendly manner.
- A lively interest in and continuously growing knowledge of the world of wine.
- Must be able to work on your feet for long periods of time and lift 50lbs.
- Able to communicate effectively with diverse guests in a friendly and informed manner.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
