Sommeliers — Floor & Cellar Positions
Elsewhere Wine Bar & Lounge | St. Helena, CA

Full-time | Target start: November 30, 2026

Elsewhere is a new wine-focused hospitality project from Nick Kokonas and Chef Elliot Bell, built around discovery, generosity, and a slightly unreasonable love of great bottles. Our ambitious wine program spans benchmark producers, rare bottles, and idiosyncratic wines with stories worth telling. We’re building a team that makes deep wine knowledge feel welcoming, personal, and approachable.

We are hiring for two distinct positions reporting to the Wine Director:

Floor Sommelier

Guide guests through the wine list with warm, thoughtful recommendations across styles and price points. Execute precise wine service, including opening, decanting, glassware, and serving temperature. Partner with servers on pairings, maintain the by-the-glass program during service, support staff wine education, and assist with cellar organization and inventory.

Required: Two or more years as a sommelier or wine-focused server in full-service dining, strong knowledge of major wine regions and producers, and comfort working with guests at every level of wine knowledge. CMS Certified, WSET Level 3, or equivalent credentials preferred.

Cellar Sommelier

Keep the wine program organized and accurate behind the scenes. Receive deliveries, reconcile invoices, maintain storage and bin locations, conduct weekly inventory counts, and stage bottles for service and events. Support floor service, vendor tastings, and allocation tracking. This position offers experience for someone developing toward a floor sommelier role.

Required: One or more years in a restaurant cellar, wine retail, or a sommelier team; strong organization; and comfort with spreadsheets and Craftable, Bevager, or similar inventory software. CMS Introductory, WSET Level 2, or higher preferred.

Both positions

Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required. Work includes extended standing and lifting wine cases up to 50 pounds; the cellar role involves repeated lifting. Reasonable accommodations are available.

RBS certification required within 60 days and a California Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire. Elsewhere pays required Food Handler Card costs and compensates required training and exam time.

Apply with your resume and a short note indicating Floor, Cellar, or interest in both.

Elsewhere is an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records consistent with the California Fair Chance Act.
