Field Sampler/Vineyard Assistant for an ultra-premium winery (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Positions Available: 3

Duration: Positions will commence in August and terminate at the end of Harvest 2011 (usually the end of October). Exact dates of employment are dependent on actual harvest dates. One position will start earlier than others.

Location: Pahlmeyer’s two Estate Vineyards - Waters Ranch, located in Napa’s Atlas Peak Appellation, and Wayfarer Farms located in the Sonoma Coast Appellation. Pahlmeyer also buys fruit from several additional vineyards in Napa and Sonoma. Daily harvest activities will end at the winery.

Responsibilities: Field Sampler/Vineyard Assistants will work closely with the viticulturist, assistant winemaker and winemaker. Training will be provided. Duties include:

• Making vineyard visits to participating growers and logging observations
• Crop estimation
• Field sampling individual blocks
• Processing samples and running analyses (Brix, pH, and TA)
• Supervising harvest picks
• Fruit sorting at the winery
• Ability to stand for long periods of time

Requirements: A positive attitude. Experience is not necessary but desired. Field Sampler/Vineyard Assistants will need to provide their own vehicle. Vehicle should be capable of driving on difficult terrain. Mileage will be reimbursed. Ability to speak Spanish is a definite plus. Early mornings are to be expected.

Wage: Hourly DOE, plus overtime.
