Product Design Engineer (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

Job Summary: 
This roles function involves many aspects from graphic manipulation, responsible for creating and maintaining new product artwork, layouts, mechanical drawings and tooling, to creating and maintaining specifications and bill of materials. Must be able to interact and communicate with all levels and departments as related to job function areas. Must be detail orientated with strong organizational and time management skills.

Essential Job Functions:
•  Analyzes product design & generate artwork, layouts and mechanicals adhering to company standards and customer requirements.
•  Cross function position interacting with Suppliers, Customer’s, Designers, Customer Care, Purchasing and production personal.
•  Creates and maintains electronic printing, slitting and forming specifications.
•  Responsible for development and maintenance of Current and Standard Bill of Materials in the ERP System. Including but not limited to routing operations, materials and costing on multiple part builds. 
•  Orders, schedules and maintains database of all cylinder, die and hot stamp tooling.
•  Maintains cylinder base inventory at suppliers.
•  Issue priorities and maintains draw down schedule working closely with Color Technician.
•  Assists with technical developments, and resolving engineering design and test problems. 
•  Create test specifications and Bill of Materials for all approved test requests.
•  Evaluates and approves design, specifications, bill of materials and artwork changes.
•  Participate in cross-functional teams.
•  Lead and participate in the New Order Tracking Meeting. 
•  As needed, visit plants to investigate and resolve issues that relate to job functions.
•  Fill in and fully cross train for other Product Design Technician job functions.
•  Create initial new project specification files and submit to Print Shop.
•  Assist Marketing with special project requests.
•  Maintain supplies pertinent to daily responsibilities (plotter paper, ink, draw down booklets etc.) 
•  Assist with Syteline implementation exploring and testing as needed.
•  Establish and maintain library of images for item master parts 
•  Change Management 
•  Ensure shared parts are being utilized and duplicates are not being created. 

Skills & Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to the satisfaction of the management team. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required:
•  Pre-Press or production job experience preferred
•  Work with minimal supervision exercising strong organizational and time management skills
•  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
•  High attention to detail Accuracy
•  Innovative problem solver, Demonstrates excellent judgment and common sense.
•  Ability to handle multiple tasks at once/Flexible with shifting priorities
•  Maintain strong relationships between all levels of the organization – A Team Player
•  Computer skills working with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Syteline ERP (preferred)
•  Travels as required

Education and/or Preferred Experience:
- 3 - 5 years Pre-Press Development Experience.
- Gravure Printing Technical knowledge a plus.
- Color Theory
- Customer service experience preferred
- High School Diploma 

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common printing, packaging journals/publications, production reports, and compliance documents. 

Computer Skills:
Computer skill requirements include: Major-Adobe Illustrator; Minor-Photoshop, InDesign & Acrobat Intermediate-MS Word and MS Excel; Intermediate-Syteline ERP System

Mathematical Skills:
Understanding the implementation of digital artwork creation, tooling layout and artwork modification. Basic Algebra skills required. 

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in graphical, mathematical, or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will mostly be sitting but is occasionally required to stand, walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visual inspection and color review. Repeated use of hands. 

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
