Quintessa, located in Rutherford, is comprised of a total of 280 acres of which 160 acres are planted to the classic Bordeaux grape varieties in 26 vineyard blocks. We
are looking for interns to join our 2019 harvest team, who will be exposed to all aspects of harvest. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, hardworking and organized with a keen eye for detail.
Duties included but are not limited to:
- Grape receiving, sorting and processing
- Juice and wine rackings and transfers
- Inoculations and additions
- Daily pump-overs
- Cleaning and sanitation of all winery equipment
- Wine barrel maintenance, preparation and filling
- Wine barrel duties: rackings, toppings, stirring, repair and storage
- Drain, digging and pressing
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Experience: at least 1-2 years of experience recommended, but not required
- Good interpersonal skills, proven ability to communicate effectively and work well with others
- Ability to follow instructions and take direction
- Team oriented and possess positive work ethic
Physical Requirements:
- Standing for long periods of time (8 hours or more)
- Must comply with all safety requirements
- Exposed to machinery and forklifts
- Long and irregular hours during peak periods on various shifts - flexible schedule may include early mornings, and weekends to accommodate the needs of harvest operations
- Ability to climb stairs, can walk extensively with ease and can lift up to ~50 pounds
- Requires the ability to sit, bend, stoop, twist and walk over uneven surfaces for prolonged periods of time
