Sojourn Cellars is a highly-acclaimed artisan producer of Pinot noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay located in the town of Sonoma. We are seeking an experienced and motivated sales professional to manage and implement sales strategies nationwide, covering wholesale and distribution channels, direct to consumer sales, and hospitality management.

The National Sales Manager / Director of Sales will be responsible for managing all aspects of wholesale sales and distribution networks nationally. He/she will also be involved in developing and implementing direct to consumer sales strategies and building and maintaining strong relationships with Sojourn customers. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for wine and the ability to work collaboratively as a part of our management team. You must be self-motivated and enjoy working with the public and providing exceptional customer service. The position will require travel.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Achieve quarterly and annual sales goals
  • Continually develop and maintain strong relationships with distributor partners
  • Identify and secure new independent, regional and national accounts
  • Formulate new ideas to generate additional direct to consumer revenue
  • Follow up on sales leads gathered through events, direct contacts, and other team members
  • Create and maintain wholesale pricing strategy
  • Attend consumer wine tasting events (public and private)
  • Participate in formal distributor business reviews as directed
  • Regularly analyze sales to seek new opportunities or develop solutions
  • Work with A/R to manage accounts receivable for each distributor and account
  • Develop annual business plans and operating budgets
  • Complete monthly, quarterly and annual reporting on sales activities

Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • 5+ years wine industry related sales and marketing experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the wine industry, sales and market trends, viticulture and wine making practices
  • Proven track record of successful sales
  • Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel at distribution and wholesale account partners
  • Strong experience with direct to consumer wine sales and marketing
  • B.S. or B.A. degree
  • Proficiency with basic computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Internet applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills including public speaking and negotiating
  • Excellent leadership, time management and organizational skills
  • Willingness to work and flourish in a team environment
  • Effective at representing a luxury brand
  • Availability to travel overnight frequently and work flexible hours
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Clean driving record
