JOB SUMMARY

Plan, prioritize, and schedule execution of strategic and day to day cellar workflow, ensuring winemaking protocols and production needs are achieved.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Working in conjunction with Winemaking/Operations, coordinate all Cellar Operations priorities and workflow, ensuring Winemaking standards and production deadlines are met.
  • Generate daily, weekly and monthly work flow schedules for all cellar operations in the Soledad winery.
  • Generate, prioritize, and validate all Work Orders.
  • Develop, communicate and distribute processing plan to Cellar Operations.
  • In conjunction with bottling operations & outside facilities, coordinate all bulk wine shipments / inter-winery tanker shipments for the Soledad facility.
  • Maximize plant capacity utilization in all areas; including cooperage management, equipment, and processing.
  • Coordinate with Cellar Supervisor to ensure all work flow and wine process objectives are met.  Generate daily, weekly, and monthly productivity reports for Cellar Operations.  Reports to be used as visual aids in production meetings and cellar efficiency education.
  • Play active role in Soledad winery grape intake.  Work directly with Plant Manager / Manager of Winery Operations on day to day program and equipment management.
  • Review harvest related templates, partner with winemaking to generate harvest related Work Orders.
  • Support continual improvement in all areas, including process quality, equipment efficiency, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Maintain KPI’s for Cellar Operations, this would include but not be limited to; schedule adherence, gallons processed, gallons shipped, barrel processing & tons received.
  • Review and manage inventory control of wine additives and processing aids, including purchasing and coordinating deliveries.
  • Assist Plant Manager with all regulatory reporting that pertains to the Soledad facility operations team.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/BA in Enology, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field and / or 10 years leadership experience in winery or other high velocity work environment, or equivalent education/work experience.
  • Must exhibit proven leader skills and abilities and able to set clear expectations, communicate directly and candidly, and manage accountability.
  • Demonstrated understanding of process flows.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt/respond in an environment of constant change.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate history of reliable attendance.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • High level of energy and sense of urgency.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy in both numerical and written.
  • Strong business acumen and fiscal responsibility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Primary work activities are within an office environment.
  • Must be comfortable with and able to work on the production floor around equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, heat, cold, odor.
