Job Description:

SUMMARY:

Cielo Estate Winery is Located in beautiful Sierra Foothill (Northern California) Region,  is searching for an experienced General Manager, to be responsible for managing an efficient, productive and cost effective day-to-day internal operation under the direction of the Owner(s). The General Manager oversees all personnel management (DTC, Sales, Tasting Room, Production and Vineyard staff), and marketing programs, financial oversight and project management for the winery. He/she ensures attainment of financial goals as established by the Owners.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following reflects Cielo Winery‘s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. •  Oversight of winery administrative, tasting room, events, sales, and accounting functions

•  The champion of customer service and staff education by ensuring that all winery associates communicate in a knowledgeable, professional and gracious manner that is accurate and consistent with the mission and vision of Cielo Winery

•  Responsible for motivating and developing winery associates

•  Development of strategic business plans, corporate goals and budgeting for winery

•  Responsible for recruiting applicants, interviewing, hiring of winery associates, as needed

•  Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively work to promote and recognize performance. Assign duties and monitor quality of work; assure staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations

•  Develop and maintain winery policies and procedures; train staff on policies and procedures; effectively communicate changes and ensure compliance

•  Maintain knowledge of competitors and winery best practices in the industry

•  Drive financial planning, forecasting and budgeting for the winery operation

•  Maintains compliance within the budget during the fiscal year

•  Ensures successful day-to-day financial management of the winery and maintains all the necessary financial records

•  Reviews monthly financials reports/statements and reports any concerns to the Owners

•  Develops and maintains a healthy working environment and provides leadership to inspire the spirit of team work and encourages cooperation among the staff

•  Communicates with Owners to ensure that they are fully informed of the conditions of the winery

•  Recommends policy and organizational changes to the Owners.

•  Other duties, as assigned



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Supervises winery staff in accordance with Company policy and applicable Federal, State and local applicable laws

•  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and development and terminating employees

•  Planning, assigning and directing work

•  Establishes and oversees implementation of professional developmental plan for staff

•  Appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees

•  Addressing complaints and resolving problems

Education and/or Experience:

•  Minimum of 3-5 years of senior management experience within the wine/hospitality industry
