Our winery is seeking an enthusiastic, wine-knowledgeable individual to join our team. We are looking for an employee who is versatile, and willing to take on a variety of hospitality and direct to consumer responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about wine and food, and excel at both the hospitality and sales aspect of the position. We are happy to train the right person to become a direct to consumer sales rep and wine educator at Dutton Estate Winery. We are a small, boutique winery located in Sebastopol in the Russian River Valley appellation of this beautiful county. The Dutton family has been farming for over 50 years and grow some of the highest quality wine grapes in Sonoma County. Working for us at Dutton Estate Winery would be a tremendous opportunity for an individual looking to work wine industry door. The job responsibilities entail direct to consumer sales and tasting room associate, while learning to be an excellent wine educator. This job opportunity gives access to learning about wine production and viticulture.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
-Assist with daily opening and closing duties
-Create exceptional guest experiences during visits to the tasting room
-Ability to educate guests on winery history and wine making practices in a professional manner
-Maintain a clean, organized retail space
-POS and customer data entry experience
-Accurately completes end-of-the-day reports, reconciles daily sales and posts transactions
-Assist with quarterly wine offerings, including administrative duties
-Ability to quickly solve practical problems and deal with periodic customer issues
-Demonstrates initiative and willingness to work special events and support special projects
-Maintain professional manner at all times
QUALIFICATIONS
-Ideal candidate will be outgoing, fun and enjoys working with the public
-Comfortable with public speaking, hosting both small and larger groups
-Effectively communicates with clients, staff and management
-Previous sales experience with luxury brands is a plus
JOB REQUIREMENTS
-Must be 21 years or older
-1-2 years related experience in the wine or retail industry
-Must be able to work 18-20 hrs per week, weekends required
-Must be able to lift 40 lbs and stand for long periods of time
-Reliable transportation required
OTHER
-Previous experience using WineDirect preferred
-Wine degree(s) or related Certifications(s) a plus
