2018 Gravity Cellar Interns (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Full Time

  Gravity Wine House

  Santa Rosa, California

Gravity Wine House, an elite custom crush facility in Santa Rosa, is looking to hire a few interns for the upcoming 2018 harvest. We are a small facility dedicated to helping our clients create high-end wines with grapes from all over the state. We are looking to create a strong team based on quality, correctness and ambition to learn.

As a facility, we specialize in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but also see small lots of other varieties, such as Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Our clients take on unique small-lot projects, which allow us the opportunity to work with many different varieties and styles.

Our interns will be offered the chance to learn how to work in a cellar that doesn't compromise quality for time or convenience. In this location we receive grapes from some of the best vineyards in California, ranging from the Santa Lucia Highlands, Napa, through Russian River Valley and up into the amazing coastal vineyards, with their perplexing weather and fantastic fruit.

We expect a lot from ourselves and will expect a lot from our interns. Quality will always come first. We don't cut corners and we won't stand for those that do. With that, we also expect ourselves to create a positive atmosphere and a zone of growth and learning for our interns. If you are willing to work, we are willing to teach and answer questions. You will work closely with the Production Manager, who will make sure every intern is closer to achieving their career goals-and has a positive experience that will further their path in this beautiful and tough industry.

As with almost all harvest positions, the hours can be long and strenuous. The days will involve climbing ladders, sorting grapes, managing ferments, barrel work, punch downs, tank dig-outs and possibly bottling. We will strive to get all our interns some forklift experience and also provide a first aid safety class.

The position will generally run from mid-August through the end of harvest, usually 8-12 weeks.
