Small artisan winery located in the heart of the Edna Valley seeks a part-time tasting room assistant to support the owner/operator. Successful candidates will have solid, in-depth knowledge about wine and the region as well as strong communication skills. Able to work collaboratively with a small team to provide an exceptional experience designed to build long-term customer relations with the brand.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist Owner/Operator with implementation of direct-to-consumer relationships for retention and business development by:
• Providing a safe tasting experience in a COVID-19 environment (masks are required)
• Availability to work Friday through Sunday
• Execute strategies to accomplish tasting room sales goals
• Host guests when they arrive with a stellar tasting experience
• Graciously schedule guest appointments via the phone
• Maintain flexibility and a can-do attitude when customers arrive without an appointment, miss their scheduled time, have a change in number of attendees, or change the reservation at the last minute
• Prepare and maintain the Tasting Room and its supplies to ensure that every visitor has an amazing wine experience and that the Tasting Room mirrors the quality of the wine.
• Work with the small team on availability to assist in the cellar with projects such as, but not limited to, bottling, labeling, capsuling, packaging, and shipping of wine.
• Support sales and marketing events on premise
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Must be 21 years or older
• Must be RBS certified
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in an evolving environment with enthusiasm
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Pays close attention to detail and takes initiative
• Knowledge of wine and the region
• Strong background in sales and DTC commerce
• Proficiency in MS Office and all its subsidiary programs
• Must be able to work Friday through Sunday, with added days when needed for additional tasks – Winery is closed Monday
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and move 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to effectively stock wine, set-up and break down procedures, equipment, etc., and be able to utilize dolly cart and assist in moving heavy objects.
• Ability to understand and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
