Refugio Ranch is presently seeking an enthusiastic, seasonal intern for the 2019 vintage. Interns will work directly with the winemaker and assistant winemaker in a small team atmosphere, in all aspects of harvest.
The position will start in late August 2019 and end in mid November 2019. Based on experience, our interns may be assigned to a range of tasks including but not limited to the following:
• Receiving and sorting fruit
• Cap management (punchdowns/pumpovers)
• Nutrient additions and inoculations
• Daily brix and temperature measurement
• Juice/wine transfers
• Press operations
• Barrel work
• Equipment sanitization/cleaning
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
• Passion for wine and winemaking with keen attention to detail
• Willingness to learn and adapt to the changing demands of harvest
• Able to lift/move 50 lbs.
• Able to climb stairs and ladders
• Walk/stand/bend/stoop/kneel for extended periods
• Forklift experience a plus
Previous winery experience and/or coursework in enology and viticulture is preferred.
