Vinfolio buys and sells collectible fine wine from two primary sources: the trade (including producers, importers, and distributors) and collectors. In addition, Vinfolio operates the only true full-service fine wine storage facility in the United States, has a collector-to-collector sales platform, and has built an advanced, comprehensive, cloud-based cellar management software solution. With a uniquely holistic view of each wine enthusiast, Vinfolio can offer each client personalized recommendations about what to buy and sell, what to drink next, and how much their cellar is worth.
Vinfolio is headquartered in San Francisco with a large storage facility in the Napa Valley. The company is a licensed retailer, wholesaler, and importer and has no physical storefront.
Vinfolio is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented professional to play a key role on our acquisitions team. This person will identify, develop and execute relationships with Fine Wine Collectors worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned fine wine professional with strong client-facing, purchasing, and logistical experience to join a rapidly growing company and make a significant contribution. This position in based in San Francisco and reports to the Director of Cellar Acquisitions.
Responsibilities
- Generate sourcing leads from our California and storage client base.
- Support and attend client-facing dinners, tastings, and other wine-related events as an ambassador for Vinfolio.
- Assist in identifying, evaluating and negotiating Collectors fine wine acquisition.
- Assist in pricing fine and rare wines.
- Assist department managers with contract administration, distribution and other logistics as needed.
- Respond to general inquiries about selling wine with Vinfolio.
- Liaise with Vinfolio’s warehouse and logistics managers about inbound and return shipments.
- Liaise with Vinfolio’s finance team to ensure client account information is accurate, analyze sell-through results, and ensure that client payments are accurate.
- Work with the Marketing and Client Specialist team to plan, execute and monitor daily offers and programmed activities.
- Support Vinfolio’s sales team by contributing promotional ideas both online and offline.
- Any additional administrative duties that may come up.
Some travel may be required. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fine and rare wines.
Requirements
The right candidate will have:
- A minimum 3 years experience in the wine industry, ideally at the highest end of the market; other luxury experience could be considered.
- Knowledge and experience of the practice of high-end client service.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree.
- Wine knowledge covering all major wine regions of the world, WSET accreditation of Intermediate level is desirable.
- Professional demeanor and interaction over phone and email.
- General computer proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and Internet programs.
- ERP and WMS experience are a plus, particularly with NetSuite ERP.
- A high level of personal organization and self-initiative.
- Able to lift 40 pounds.
