Area Manager - Northern California (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

CRU Winery in Madera, CA is seeking an experienced and dedicated team player with proven outside sales skills to partner with its wholesaler in the Northern California region in an effort to expand on and off premise accounts. This a full-time, salaried position that reports to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing. There are incentives for achieving goals. Qualified candidates will have excellent sales and communications skills.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to): 
•  Manage on and off premise activities and programming to ensure market penetration and brand awareness
•  Follow the company policies for price quotations and financial responsibilities
•  Present, sell, merchandise and execute brand initiatives that will serve to support wholesaler efforts to increase distribution
•  Identify and direct opportunities for growth in the Southern California market; maintain a regular customer call schedule and review upcoming programs and priorities with each customer at least quarterly
•  Exhibit discipline and resourcefulness to meet/exceed assigned monthly goals and placement objectives and stay on top of industry trends and developments
•  Plan, design and conduct educational product presentations, such as wine dinners to promote new product placements or staff trainings for on/off premise. 
•  Responsible for timely response (within 24 hours) on all communications within the company or outside customers. 
•  Attend scheduled wholesaler sales team meetings in the territory; present and educate sales staff on new or existing wines 
•  Review and analyze sales trends in an effort to modify the sales strategy for the territory
•  Conduct and report weekly progress checks of distributor performance for your assigned area
•  Complete administrative tasks in an accurate and timely manner; report to the VP of Sales on a weekly basis
•  Demonstrated diligence and ability to follow through on all commitments (internal and external stakeholders)
•  Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
•  Demonstrated ability to achieve performance goals with a minimum of direction
•  Demonstrated math skills with ability to understand wholesaler margin, retailer cost of goods calculation and market discount structures

Necessary Qualifications:
•  Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 3 years of experience in sales in wine industry with a proven track record of success
•  Valid driver’s license and own vehicle for travel within the territory
•  Passionate, motivated and trustworthy; must have the ability to work independently
•  Thorough understanding of 3 tier system and knowledge of wine and the wine industry
•  Excellent verbal, communication and organizational skills; must be comfortable in presentation situations
•  Ability to lift 50lbs. 
•  Required Travel 50%+: Territory covering SF, North Bay, East Bay South Bay and Monterey. 
•  Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power point
