Domenico Winery is currently seeking a Tasting Room Sales Associate that is friendly, passionate, and knowledgeable about wine, has exceptional customer service skills and has excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to join our dynamic family-run winery, tasting room, osteria and event venue.  You are responsible for creating a positive and informative experience for every guest.

As a gracious host representing the Domenico brand, the Tasting Room Sales Associate will welcome wine club members, guests and visitors, pour flights of wine, educate visitors on our wines, discuss grape growing and production processes, serving tips and food pairings, as well as providing light food service.  Our tasting room also offers wine and beer on tap and has an espresso machine. Don’t worry…we’ll teach you how to make espresso and cappuccino.

Our loyal wine club members are eager to hear about sales specials, upcoming releases, and exclusive wine club events. First-time visitors afford you the opportunity to talk about our award-winning wines, our vineyards, our many Cal-Italia varietals, and all that our event venue has to offer - all leading up to you enrolling them as the newest member of the Domenico Wine Club!

This position reports to the Tasting Room & Osteria Manager and works closely with all hospitality staff and management.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

• To have fun all the while, ensuring the best guest service experience

• Sales experience preferred: ability to present product, up sell and cross sell

• Accomplish wine club sales and wine club sign ups

• Support departmental and corporate initiatives to meet or exceed wine sales and membership goals

• Build enduring relationships that foster brand loyalty

• Must be able to handle groups of 2-8 people (sometimes more)

• Accurate use of the POS system

• Wash and polish tasting room glassware

• Assist guests by carrying out purchases as necessary

• Table management including prep and cleanup of tables

• Prepare cheese plates and other food accompaniments as needed…maybe make cappuccino

• Assist with receiving and restocking of wine and/or merchandise

• Maintain cleanliness of the Tasting Room, including, but not limited to the patio, bathrooms, wine closet, event areas and parking lot.

• Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications:

• 1 year of Winery or hospitality experience preferred

• Utmost integrity, accountability, highly responsible and reliable

• Sufficient first-hand knowledge of wine and wine-related topics

• Passion for wine

• Must be a positive team player

• Work well with management and other TR associates to foster a collaborative team environment

• Good communication skills

• Efficient at multitasking

• Professional appearance and hospitable demeanor

• You must be at least 21 years of age

• Possess a valid CA driver's license

• Pass background check

• Complete the Responsible Beverage Service Certification online

• Must be able to work weekends and some holidays

• Full-time & Part-time positions available

• Ability to lift/carry 50lbs and stand for the duration of the shift with repetitive motions including, lifting club packs and cases of wine, opening bottles, pouring and reaching when restocking racks

Domenico Winery is a family owned and operated Urban Winery, Event Venue and Tasting Room that opened its doors in 2004 and has been undergoing a complete 14,000 sq. ft. revitalization; including a new 2500 sq. ft. Osteria. Domenico has been hand-crafting award-winning wines (375+ medals) and hosting both private and public events for the past 14 years. In 2018, we hosted 223 events and served over 25,000 guests in our newly renovated winery and event space.

A classic OSTERIA in the heart of San Carlos. The wine bar and osteria offers a dynamic environment for a leisurely lunch, wine tasting or quick-grab solutions for the go-getter who has limited time in their day. Evenings transition into a social hub for an unparalleled happy hour amongst locals and a premier venue for celebratory group gatherings in the SF Bay Area. Featuring indoor/outdoor seating for 84 with an open kitchen with a Woodstone pizza oven, and 37 ft. tasting bar, is slated to open June/July of 2019.
