Wheeler Farms is a luxury, state-of-the-art wine making facility in St. Helena that produces wine under its own label as well as wine for its collaboration of other wine brands. Tours and tastings are by appointment only and hospitality is offered in a warm and inviting Hospitality House that offers guests an exclusive tasting experience.

The Position

The Wine Steward role is a full-time benefited position which will provide support to Hospitality, Culinary, and Gardens Department daily. This position reports to the Director of Sales and Hospitality, David Schulze. The Wine Steward interacts with the Hospitality and Events Team to ensure daily projects are being completed efficiently. 

Key Position Responsibilities

•  Assist in all aspects of Hospitality, Culinary, and Garden activities.
•  Actively supports daily reservations through wine tasting setup and cleanup, including washing and polishing wine glasses while also cleaning tasting locations.
•  Assists with kitchen inventory and janitorial supplies.
•  Help with special event setup and cleanup as needed.
•  Responsible for daily upkeep and cleanliness of the hospitality space.
•  Responsible for washing/sanitizing dishes, glassware, flatware, cooking pots/utensils and other related food service equipment.
•  Helps prepare and deliver plated food and beverages for tastings/events.

Specific requirements include:

•  21 years of age or older.
•  Excellent verbal & interpersonal communication skills.
•  Must be comfortable speaking with and interacting with guests, as needed.
•  Available to work both weekends and holidays.
•  Ability to lift heavy boxes (40-50 lbs) on a repeated basis.
•  Ability to stand for long periods of time.

The Preferred Candidate Will Possess:

•  Related hospitality experience is preferred but we will train the right candidate. Winery experience is a plus.
•  Interest in improving skills in all areas of hospitality and winery.
•  Ability to communicate proactively and precisely. Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.

Location

The employee is primarily required to execute the services at 588 Zinfandel Ln, St. Helena, CA 94574, work at other off-site locations will be required periodically.
