The anticipated salary placement for this position depends on qualifications, experience and salary budget, and will not exceed $4,452 a month.

Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Wine Spectator Learning Center including: serving as the primary point of contact and liaison for industry and programmatic activities within and related to the building and its brand.

 

Supporting the WBI’s programmatic recruitment objectives by: answering inquiries from prospective students and companies seeking partnerships; organizing recruiting events; and coordinating outreach campaigns.

 

Serving as the state coordinator for the Viticulture Enology Science and Technology Alliance (VESTA) National Center for Excellence Grant, and is the first point-of contact on VESTA sponsored programs at Sonoma State University.

 

Primary liaison for the WBI Board of Directors and is responsible for organizing meetings, luncheons, reviewing minutes, disseminating information, preparing reports, obtaining parking passes, and above all else, relationship-building.

 

Responsible for working with the School’s Director of Business and Operations to develop annual budgets, reconcile WBI’s revenue and expenses on a monthly basis, and present financial statements to the Executive Director and the Wine Business Board of Directors.

 

Promoting WBI programs and workshops at conferences and industry events, and disseminating information about WBI programs by working with the School of Business and Economics Marketing team on strategic marketing campaigns.

 

Provides event leadership, coordinating various events held both on and off campus. These range from small, intimate meetings to large campus and community-wide events at which attendance could exceed 400.

 

Coordinating the scholarship objectives of the Wine Business Institute by working with the University’s Advancement and Scholarship Offices on industry contributions.

 

This position requires a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development and improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs In addition, this position requires two years of related experience. Practical experience in project coordination/management/event production, a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods, and one year in a direct administrative support capacity is preferred. Two plus years of experience in the marketing or service side of the wine industry, specifically with North Coast California wineries, principals, and distribution, highly preferred. Demonstrate working knowledge of the sensitivity and uniqueness of the wine business and its cycles. Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required. Knowledge of databases and PeopleSoft preferred.

 

The incumbent must demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the university and to maintain positive, inclusive and productive working relationships amongst diverse populations including faculty, staff, students, and community and industry contacts; and must be able to provide outstanding customer service. Working knowledge of, and ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program and/or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations and working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Demonstrate ability to analyze data and make projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques; and exercise sound judgment and initiative in performing complex work. The incumbent must possess and/or be willing to obtain a valid California State driver's license.
