Position Summary:

The Lead Bottling Mechanic is responsible for scheduling, delegating and performing the day to day maintenance of winery equipment including set-up, installation and repair. This person will report directly to the Vice President of Operations and will work closely with the Bottling Lead as well as the Cellar Lead to complete tasks. The Lead Bottling Mechanic may also be involved in general facility maintenance consisting of repairs, modifications and preventive maintenance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
•  Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and mechanical equipment within the bottling line to improve performance and increase production. 
•  Determines the extent of an issue and promptly replaces defective or worn parts, reassembles, re-adjusts, and/or reprograms systems for proper operation. 
•  Responsible for bottling line changeovers, adjustments, preventative maintenance and synchronization of equipment. 
•  May perform non-certified wiring and fabrication incidental to repair and maintenance tasks.
•  Identifies and repairs issues all the pumping systems used within the winery. 
•  Works from detailed blue prints, schematics, samples, drawings, and/or verbal instructions. 
•  Orders parts and supplies for the bottling line, cellar, and facility regarding maintenance.
•  Manages the wastewater system and pulls weekly water samples for Cal Test.
•  Assists in coordinating the work of outside contractors. 
•  Maintains records of all maintenance performed on equipment.
•  Ensures that all employees and visitors comply with all Cal OSHA guidelines and DSS safety programs, policies and practices by communicating and preventing improper handling or use within the facility.
•  Attends staff meetings as required, including Safety Committee meetings and Team Huddles. 
•  Writes, follows and ensures compliance with all lockout/tag-out procedures for each piece of equipment. 
•  Establishes and implements Bottling Line Standard Operating Procedures within the ISO/HACCP system.
•  Provides relief for bottling line workers and assumes the position of Bottling Line Lead when necessary, which can include supplying the line with glass, working in the filler room, forklift driving, etc.
•  Performs general facility maintenance by keeping the building in proper operating condition. 
•  On call to assist with any urgent facility needs during swing shift production hours, which may result in returning to the facility. 
•  Works successfully as part of a team and maintains strong working relationships with co-workers.
•  Reports directly to and informs the Vice President of Operations of any downtime and future scheduled maintenance. 
•  Ability to analyze and prioritize tasks. 
•  Actively participates in and abides by all HACCP and ISO programs as part of DSS compliance.
•  Performs special assignments, projects, and other duties as requested. 

Education and Experience:
•  High School diploma or GED; additional technical training, trade school or certification desired.
•  5+ years of experience in bottling line maintenance.
•  Proficiency with mechanics.
