Accountant - Payroll (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

We move fast, love what we do and have a smart, tight-knit team. To take us to the next level we’re seeking someone to manage the Payroll and HR functions for the organization.

Position Summary:
The Payroll Accountant will manage the payroll cycle for both the sales organization and the farm management company of John Anthony Family of Wines. This position will operate under supervision from the Controller. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of experience managing payroll with experience in farming/agriculture strongly preferred. We are also looking for someone with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
•  Prepares payroll for three entities managed by John Anthony Family of Wines
•  Reconciles general ledger balance sheet accounts related to payroll monthly
•  Prepares monthly payroll accrual entries
•  Investigates and resolves errors in payroll data processing
•  Maintains a system of internal control to ensure all payroll activity is complete, timely and accurate
•  Develops written policies and procedures to document payroll functions
•  Provides timely and thoughtful responses to payroll related inquiries
•  Assists in preparing audit reports related to payroll such as worker’s compensation
•  Independently works with the managers to respond to inquiries and resolve payroll errors
•  Actively seeks to strengthen the payroll functions and processes, and recommends solutions for improvement
•  Handles employee benefits including enrollment and deductions
•  Will assist CFO and Controller with the Annual Review and Budget process
•  Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
•  3-5 years of experience of Payroll Experience. Farming Payroll experience strongly preferred
•  Familiarity and comfort level with the peak volume of harvest season
•  PC Literacy i.e. Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel. Quickbooks experience preferred but can train if necessary
