Chateau Montelena Winery, a family-owned and operated winery, is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated and professional to join our hospitality team. This position entails creating memorable experiences for all guests that visit our Calistoga tasting room. Responsibilities involve daily interaction with winery guests, hosting tastings, wine and company history and retail sales. Full Time and Part Time opportunities available.
Responsibilities:
• Host tastings and the guest experience as you graciously represent the winery
• Educate guests on winery history and wine making practices in a warm and enthusiastic manner
• Learn and maintain product knowledge of current and library vintages
• Promote and sell wine club offerings
• Accurate data entry and use of computerized Point of Sale system
• Daily involvement in sales, processing customer transactions, invoicing wine shipments
• Punctually and accurately execute daily opening and closing procedures
• Maintain cleanliness of the tasting room and other winery common areas
• Clean, wash, and polish glassware
• Restock tasting room inventory, wines, and supplies as appropriate
• Participate and assist winery hospitality team with various winery events as needed
• Attend and participate in monthly tasting room meetings and training sessions
Desirable qualifications/skills:
• Knowledge of general winemaking and viticulture techniques
• Excellent communication, customer service, and wine sales skills
• Comfortable with public speaking - hosting both small and larger groups
• Experience with wine service
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
• Work in a courteous and respectful manner at all times
• Knowledgeable about California wineries, the wine industry, and Napa Valley in general
• Wine shop or previous hospitality/retail sales experience preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, Word, Excel)
