For six years Vinca Minor has been focused on working with historic vineyards in Northern California. We produce fresh, vibrant wines from Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The right intern will gain experience in a wide range of tasks associated with small lot winemaking.
Expect to work at least 6 days a week, 12+ hour days during the height of harvest. We do not provide housing, so someone already living in the Bay Area is preferred. Daily meals will be provided. Car is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Including but not limited to:
• Grape receiving and processing
• Cleaning bins, floors, tanks
• Cap management - foot tread, punchdown, pumpovers
• Accurate brix and temperature measurement
• Barrel activities - washing, stacking
• Forklift driving
• Vineyard work to include; sampling and helping with the pick
QUALIFICATIONS
• Prior harvest experience required
• Ability to understand and comply with all safety requirements
• Ability to perform the physical labor necessary
• Effective communication skills
• Good reading, writing and math skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work on a hot, uncovered vineyards
• Valid Driver's License
Work will begin mid August and run through the end of October.
