GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Ma(i)sonry Napa Valley is looking to add two new Wine Consultants to our wine and hospitality team.  One position will be for a part time junior member of our sales team, and the other is for an experienced salesperson.  The primary responsibility of both positions is to ensure engaging education, exemplary service, and appropriate sales efforts are provided to our guests who will appreciate the Ma(i)sonry experience. 

At Ma(i)sonry Napa Valley, we believe brilliance is found in tailored experiences.  Because of this belief, we cater to the interests of our guests, providing them with personalized tasting experiences consisting of wines made by world-class winemakers such as Aaron Pott, Philippe Melka, Thomas Brown, and Santiago Achával.  Our retail environment is a working art and design gallery, housed within a historic building filled with one of a kind antiques from the 18th century and pieces from renowned artists, sculptors, and designers.  Each candidate must be enthusiastic about working in this environment and promoting the experience we have curated at Ma(i)sonry.

The successful candidate will work directly with the Wine Director to build lasting relationships with wine and lifestyle product enthusiasts in a setting which will feature a collective tasting of boutique Napa Valley and North Coast wineries. For success in this position, the ideal candidate must possess wine knowledge and sales ability, combined with notable interpersonal skills to guide the guest’s experiences in a flexible and creative nature. You must strive to build a strong rapport with every guest and create opportunities to generate follow-up business and encourage customer loyalty.   A passion for sales is essential, and the best candidates will share our belief that providing great hospitality is one of the most effective and personal way to close sales.

 

It is expected that you may be comfortable working at off-site locations when appropriate for the business.  Finally, participation in events in the afternoon or evening as deemed appropriate to the business will also be included in the normal duties, including setup, cleanup duties throughout each event and normal business day.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Always provide the highest quality service to customers and co-workers.

• Open and close the business on a daily basis according to outlined procedures.

• Sets up, hosts and resets private and walk-in wine tastings.

• Conducts point of sale procedures, cash handling.

• Monitors hospitality areas to ensure they are kept clean and safe.

• Participates in wine inventory procedures.

• Establishes and maintains a positive relationship with referral companies and individuals.

• Develops and maintain a working knowledge/interest in art and antiques.

• Maintains familiarity with Napa Valley history, wineries of interest and other hospitality businesses.

• Contributes to sales strategies and staff motivation.

• Completes any additional tasks as assigned by the Wine Director or Gallery Leader.

EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• 3 years of experience in sales for a winery or premium consumer goods company. (less is acceptable for the junior team member)

• Computer proficiency: POS software experience; web based software—including salesforce.com

• Ability to prioritize and get things done in a rapidly changing environment

• Strong attention to service detail

• Self-motivated with the ability to multi task numerous projects at one time

• Exemplary interpersonal communication skills

• B.A./B.S. degree preferred but not required

• Valid CA Driver’s license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

• Must be able to work standing and walking for extended periods of time

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

This position is Full-Time. The hours will vary, depending on scheduling needs. Candidates must be willing to have flexible schedules and must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
