Domaine Chandon is seeking for a Cellar Worker II.

The Cellar Worker II performs intermediate to advanced cellar operations with limited supervision in order to create premium wines.


Cellar Processes: (90%)
• With limited supervision, perform and direct routine operation of pumps and filters to rack, transfer, and clarify juice and wine.
• Under limited supervision operate all complex cellar equipment, including: membrane and pad filters, heat exchanger, centrifuge, and DE Pressure Filter.
• Responsible for sanitation in all areas of cellar operations including tanks and other equipment.
• Able to follow and complete work order instructions in detail.
• Perform all barrel procedures including receiving, prepping, filling, topping, cleaning/sanitation, and inventory.
• Gauge bulk inventory and transfer information to the work order.
• Measure, weigh and add chemical additions to wine.
• Collect wine samples for tasting or lab analysis.
• Set both manual and automatic tank temperature control.
• Conduct routine inventory counts of dry goods and wine.
• Safely operate forklift and handcarts.
• Operate presses and crushers.
• Handle shipping and receiving of wine tankers and grape deliveries.
• Maintain yeast and malo-lactic cultures to ensure viability.
• Perform equipment maintenance such as hose repair.

Team Support: (10%)
• General support for laboratory.
• Support for Operations department as needed.
• Train and direct less skilled workers.
• Review completed work orders for accuracy.


Qualifications:

Education : High school diploma or GED required. 

Languages : English, Spanish a plus

Professional experience & know how:
• Minimum 2 years winery cellar experience.
• Knowledge of safe cellar practices, including safe handling of chemicals.
• Knowledge of winery cellar operating procedures.
• Ability to be trained in confined space entry process and procedures.
• Ability to drive a forklift and become forklift certified.

Technical & management skills:
• Ability to understand and perform basic math.
• Ability to understand and perform basic measurements.
• Ability to train and direct less skilled workers, including seasonal labor.

Personal & interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
