Sojourn Cellars is seeking a full time seasonal Harvest intern to join the production team for the 2014 harvest.  Work will be performed at the winery in Santa Rosa, CA as well as at our offices in Sonoma, CA and at various vineyard sites around Sonoma County and Napa County.  Ideal candidates will be hard-working, detail-oriented, well-organized, and passionate about wine, with a positive attitude.

 

Sojourn Cellars is a boutique producer of highly-acclaimed Pinot noir, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon wines.  The Harvest intern will gain valuable experience in a small team and get a first-hand view of artisan winemaking both in the vineyard and at the winery.

 

Applicants must be energetic, dependable, highly organized, able to work varying shifts and hours, work as a team, pay attention to details, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.  A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required. 

 

The harvest intern will perform all aspects of harvest activities. These include but not limited to vineyard monitoring and field sampling, processing samples and running analyses (brix, pH, TA), supervising picks, grape receiving and fruit sorting, pumpovers, punchdowns, yeast inoculations, nutrient additions, pressing and barrel downs, cleaning and sanitation, documenting and tracking of harvest activities using Microsoft Excel, and monitoring work activities of cellar interns. 

 

Flexible scheduling required.  Work schedule may include swing shifts, overtime, weekends, and/or holidays. This position will start full-time 8/1/14 through 10/31/14 with part-time work available before and after. Exact dates of employment are dependent on actual harvest dates.

 

Previous winery experience, particularly harvest, preferred. Basic English required for all positions, both speaking and reading.

 

This is a physically demanding position and requires the ability to lift & carry up to 50 lbs, ability to climb stairs and work at heights, ability to work in changing conditions, and ability to work with standard winemaking materials.  The Harvest intern will need to provide their own vehicle. Vehicle should be capable of driving on difficult terrain.  Ability to speak Spanish is a plus. Early mornings are to be expected.  Must be located within 45 minutes commute time to winery in Santa Rosa. No relocation funds are available for out of state or international applicants.
