  • Oversee, plan, communicate and execute the sales goals for all SGWS chain sales/merchandising divisions. Achieve ambitious volume and profit objectives within your market.
  • Manage a team of portfolio managers, area managers and district managers by oversight of sales and merchandising efforts for the division of warehouse grocery & drug store accounts.
  • Analyze sales statistics and recommend policy developments to enhance sales figures and foster goal attainment.
  • Provide consistent and regular communication to executive management team. Plan, organize and execute meetings and supplier presentations to inspire confidence among company leaders and gain endorsement as an effective company spokesperson.
  • Strategize with executive chain management and provide sales reports/results reflecting case volume sales activity in respective merchandising division.
  • Identify market trends and developments in product categories, geographic regions and among warehouse grocery & drug store account base to remain at the forefront when compared to the competition.
  • Build, maintain and nurture strong and productive business relationships among the supplier community and in accordance with all customers/accounts in set geographic region to ensure satisfaction level with SGWS is high and desired results are being accomplished.
  • Regularly meet with SGWS suppliers to collaborate on sales objectives & merchandising goals. Must be able to clearly & efficiently communicate supplier strategies, goals and objectives in a timely manner to area managers and portfolio managers.
  • Analyze on an on-going basis opportunities/threats, strengths/weaknesses affecting growth of company business.
  • Identify market trends and developments in product categories, geographic regions and among warehouse grocery & drug store account base to remain at the forefront when compared to the competition.
  • Obtain maximum wine & spirit sales volume from each division.
  • Work flexible hours which include early morning (i.e. 4:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m. start times), evenings, and/or weekends. Overnight travel as required. Additional hours required during the peak season of October, November and December.
  • Perform other work related duties and special projects as assigned.
  • 25% Travel Required for this role.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills:

High School Diploma/GED and 5-7 years of merchandising, sales, and management experience most recently as a chain area manager supervising/directing other individuals.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and 10 key by touch.

Proficient at calculating commissions, percentages, and reviewing comparative sales data for analysis.

Excellent public speaking and presentation skills are needed for sales trainings and meetings among executive sales/supplier management teams.

Demonstrated success in building and improving relationships with suppliers and buyers combined with established and effective rapport in entire geographic region.

Proven ability to motivate, lead, and mentor newly appointed managers.

Able to inspire, coach and lead a team by example.

Goal oriented, focused, and assertive individual who needs little direction or supervision.

Capable of managing multiple projects on tight deadlines and maintaining high level of quality output.

Ability to communicate effectively to suppliers, executives, managers, supervisors, and sale personnel with strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

Lift and carry a 45+ pound case of product on an occasional basis.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Possess a dependable vehicle, valid driver's license, proof of state registration and insurance, and an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Credentials:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.

Hands-on management approach in an intense, fast-paced environment.

Strong negotiation skills.

Proven track record of strong sales and leadership skills in previous/current work experience.

Adaptable and can assist a variety of internal customer groups and varying personality types.

Thrive on creating and selling innovative ideas and demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit.

In-depth and sophisticated understanding of wine and spirits to include regions/varietals, product/food pairing techniques, basic production, and service.
