HR/Safety Specialist

Premium Vineyard Management Company located in St. Helena, CA, seeks highly motivated, highly organized, flexible individual with the ability to multi task and learn on the fly. Benefits. Occasional overtime during peak seasons. Salary based on qualifications and experience.

 

Essential Functions:
•  Responsible for Human Resources
• Continuously improves policies/programs/practices, ensuring compliance with Federal & CA    labor law.
• Maintains personnel records, ensuring compliance with current regulations

• Maintains accident /injury log, along with IIPP and Safety Records, up-to-date
• Responsible for workers compensation claims and safety programs
• Responsible for benefits administration
• Responsible for employee relations issues, conducting investigations to provide clarification
• Responsible for disciplinary actions, emphasizing solutions to improve quality of work
• Responsible for the hiring, pre-employment paperwork, and new employees orientation for vineyard staff.
• Developer and administrator of health & safety training programs

• Promote health and safety with the goal of maintaining a safe, healthy and accident free environment.

• Payroll backup

• Assist with month end billing

Job Requirements:
• 3 years of progressive human resources experience

• Vineyard/Ag experience preferred
• Familiarity with safety programs and procedures with-in agricultural environments is preferred.
• Up-to-date knowledge of Federal and State (CA) labor law, required
• Hands-on experience in management and staff training programs preferred
• Understanding of payroll regulations with-in the agricultural industry, would be helpful

• Ability to work in a small office environment.
• Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint programs is a must

• Ability to learn new programs quickly.

• CADL, clear DMV record,

• Ability to provide own transportation.


Language Skills:
• This position also involves daily communication with employees whose primarily language is Spanish, excellent verbal communication skills in Spanish, as well as, very good written communication skills in Spanish, IS REQUIRED

• This position involves daily communication with management and outside vendors, both verbally and in writing. Excellent English language skills are a must.

• Diplomatic and respectful, with a systematic approach to employee relations issues
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables, applying common sense
• Positive attitude with successful leadership record, and the ability to promote high level morale

Physical Demands:
Sitting at desk for extended periods. Frequent field visits. Exposed to extreme weather conditions, unstable terrain. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
