POSITION SUMMARY:
V.Sattui Winery is currently seeking a grill and or pizza cook. You will be required to help set up and break down an outdoor kitchen with grills and pizza oven for our weekend BBQ. The right individual will need to be hard-working and detail oriented in order to accomplish tasks in a timely, clean and efficient manner. The ability to multi-task is a must as well as having a deep understanding of varied cooking techniques and a passion to learn more about your craft.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodations or other reasons. Employee will assist the bbq/kitchen staff with all food processing activities. Specific duties can include, but are not limited to:
• Prep for service.
• Set up/ break down of outdoor kitchen
• Ensure consistent high quality cooking.
• Oversee inventory levels and timing of cooking.
• Cook food properly and in a timely fashion, using all appropriate safety precautions.
• Communicate with other BBQ, kitchen and deli staff to ensure food is prepared on time and correctly.
• Ensure use of FIFO (first in, first out) system so all ingredients are labeled and stored properly.
• Maintain control system for storage temperatures and proper functioning of BBQ equipment.
• Bring any problems or shortages to the Chef’s or Operations Manager's attention. Each person is responsible for checking and maintaining a high level of quality of products and equipment on their station
• Use all food handling sanitation standards. Maintain an organized and clean work area at all times. Observe good sanitation practices and safety procedures. Wear gloves when possible.
• Daily duties may also include but are not limited to unpacking and stocking kitchen deliveries, counting inventory, driving a fork lift as well as assigned cleaning duties.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Chef or Operations Manager.
• Check out with Operations Manager daily before leaving your shift.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduation from an accredited culinary academy a plus.
• Ability to read English and follow work orders in English.
• One year restaurant or winery experience.
• 2-3 years experience on a hot grill or pizza oven
• Thorough knowledge of food products and cooking techniques (i.e. knife skills, sauté, proper cooking temperatures, etc.).
• Must be able to work with limited supervision.
• Must be able to work cleanly, efficiently and with respect for quality ingredients and careful attention to preparation.
• Must work safely around moving equipment and electricity.
• Must be reliable and flexible.
• Must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
• Must work weekends
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Possesses a California Food Handler Card.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
