Gloria Ferrer was the first sparkling wine producer in the Carneros region of Sonoma when we opened our doors in 1986, and has been producing award winning sparkling and varietal wines ever since. With the exception of a couple winter months, thousands of visitors come from all over the world to enjoy our sparkling wine on our Vista Terrace, which is surrounded by sweeping views of the Sonoma Valley hills and vineyards.

As a tasting room sales associate you will provide these visitors with exceptional customer service; education about our wine, our history, and the Sonoma Valley region; and tours of our winery. The tasting room sales associate will also provide the visitors with the opportunity to join our wine clubs, as well as take home our award winning wines. All tasting room staff benefit from individual and team incentives based on sales volume and wine club memberships.

Responsibilities

  • Greets all visitors and provides information about our wines and products, including information about the production of sparkling wine and the history of Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards.
  • Provide visitors with an educational, positive, and enjoyable experience at the winery.
  • Educate visitors on Gloria Ferrer sparkling and estate wines in a manner that will trigger their loyalty and repeat business
  • Conduct table-side service wine tasting, food pairings and/or tours of the facility
  • Maintains good stock of wine and non-wine gift items in the Tasting Room.
  • Execute sales promotions and marketing campaigns as directed
  • Prepares and maintains the cleanliness of the Tasting Room, terrace and tour route for visitors.
  • Handles routine transactions, which include operating cash register and credit card machine.
  • Administer wine shipping paperwork as directed
  • May be requested to attend special events and tastings outside the winery for special pouring
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Strong sales experience
  • General wine knowledge and familiarity with Gloria Ferrer wines; must be able to communicate information on all of our current releases
  • Able to communicate the Gloria Ferrer story to visitors (Ferrer Family history; discuss vineyard; discuss winery and wines; etc.)
  • Knowledge and ability to use cash register system to process sales
  • Winery and/or restaurant experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to be a ‘team player’
  • Able to create meaningful, memorable and positive experiences for our tasting room visitors
  • Able to make food and wine pairing suggestions to promote sales based on knowledge of Gloria Ferrer wines
    Able to sell various wine club memberships and expand the customer database by signing up visitors for the newsletter, direct sales mailings, and promotions

Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform a variety of tasks, including:
  • Giving knowledgeable tours of the facility, winemaking, and Gloria Ferrer working in the tasting room.
  • General housekeeping
  • Knowledge of POS system software
  • Able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Must be well organized and able to manage multiple tasks in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others, including customers, trade visitors, management, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Must be available to work scheduled days and have flexibility to work different schedules or hours when necessary.
  • Must be willing to perform any other job functions deemed necessary by management.
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor in dress and manners.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
    • Minimum age of 21 to pour wine.
    • High school graduate or equivalent; college degree preferred.
    • Must have a valid California driver’s license and a clean driving record.
    • Knowledge of winemaking processes and varietals a plus
