Electrician (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Improve overall production reliability through leadership and mentoring of shift maintenance team. Successful supervisor will inspire cost mindful culture that balances the challenge of reducing manufacturing costs while controlling maintenance costs. Supervisor will have thorough oversight for all technical aspects of the manufacturing enterprise, supervisory responsibility of existing technical staff; involvement in hiring and training as necessary. Will participate in the development and attainment of maintenance metrics that support production goals. Will coordinate with production scheduling to develop proactive maintenance schedules that minimize line downtime. Will help develop annual budget for the Maintenance Department.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assumes full responsibility under Superintendent, Manager, Supervisor, or Head Mechanic or Leader for the efficiency and safety of all plant electrical circuits and equipment, and also:

  1. Makes and updates layout of electrical circuits and prints.
  2. Makes up material and parts lists and requisitions for ordering.
  3. Performs, or directs all maintenance wiring, installation of motors, switches, switch panels, fuse/circuit boxes, lighting, testing, and power circuits.
  4. Determines proper size and specifications of wire, conduit, switches, panels, fuses, etc.
  5. Reads and understands blueprints, wiring diagrams, equipment wiring diagrams, and circuit diagrams.
  6. Performs any needed modifications or building of Line PLC programming.
  7. Must be familiar with RS Logix and other Allen-Bradley PLC programming programs.
  8. Must be familiar with variable frequency drives and their capabilities. Trouble shooting and set-up of variable frequency drives.
  9. Inspects and adjust/calibrate photo eyes, proximity sensors, micro-switches, level detectors, pressure transmitters, flow meters, density meters, capacitance probes, and any other electronic sensors.
  10. Must understand basic line controls and be able to trouble shoot problems on any given line.
  11. Orders and requisitions parts to PM and repair lines and or equipment.
  12. Inspects motors, switches, junction boxes, switch panels, circuit breakers, transformers, fuse/circuit panels, lighting, heating, and power circuits. Makes preventative and running repairs and connections.
  13. Performs, or directs installation, connection, adjustment, and calibration of electrical gauges and recording instruments.
  14. Observes all operating, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  15. Reports all unsafe conditions and matters of concern to supervisor.
  16. Performs any other work as may be assigned by supervisor.

Secondary Duties:

  1. Supervises other electricians as necessary and required.
  2. Aides other electricians and mechanics as necessary and required.
  3. On the job training of new hires as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work activities are within an office and manufacturing environment
  • Position will be exposed to indoor and outdoor environments with varying noise levels
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the performance of various tasks in a production environment
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs occasionally

     

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Food and/or beverage manufacturing experience. Wine industry experience a plus.
  • 7-10 years related experience.
  • Completion of technical training, journey–level education in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, welding or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with PLC programs, large Freon refrigeration equipment, 3 phase 460VAC equipment, and all other equipment associated with running a large winery.
  • Strong communication (verbal/written), problem solving, decision-making, coaching, training, etc.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other FED/State rules and regulations including environmental.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage projects.
  • Strive for continuous improvements in all areas of responsibility: keep current with technological advancements.
  • Four year College education, may substitute experience for higher education.
  • Experience in Industrial electronics/electrical, refrigeration, pneumatics, mechanical, hydraulics, building construction, blueprints, processing equipment, boilers, PLC’s and VFD’s is a must.
  • Strong computer skills relating to CMMS/work order system, programming, etc. typically in the maintenance field.
  • Committed to safety, quality and productivity.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other FED/State rules and regulations including environmental.
  • Capital project management experience and directing of contractors.
