Lab Manager
We are a full service state-of-the-art custom wine production company with customers ranging from ultra-premium wineries, negotiants, and private label to national chains. The spectrum of our services include: custom fruit sourcing, on-going finished bottled wine programs, bulk wine sales, complete AP/CC services, full compliance department, warehousing, label and packaging design.
Our company is a truly exciting and entrepreneurial work environment. We are growing the company dramatically and the need the highest quality professionals on our team to keep pace. We are currently seeking a Lab Manager for our facility. This person will report directly to winemaking
Duties & responsibilities are but not limited to:
• Oversee and manage all lab employees
• Oversee and perform all analysis for grapes, juice, and wine
• Coordinate the set-up of all laboratory trials
• Train all employees in the laboratory and set performance standards
• Maintain and oversee a clean, safe, positive, and rewarding work environment in the laboratory
• Implement the companies goals and objectives
• Encourage a strong work ethic and lead by example
• Plan and organize all tasks within the lab and coordinate all monthly analysis
• Audit all analytical data, identify potential problems, and notify winemaking
• Understand the theory behind each analytical procedure and piece of equipment
• Perform all routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of analytical lab equipment and instruments
• Recommend equipment and improvements for efficiency and accuracy
• Writing of purchase requisitions for all laboratory supplies
• Review and update standard operating procedures and forms
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in management of a wine laboratory or an industrial laboratory
• Bachelors of Science degree of Chemistry or related field (preferably with an emphasis in Enology/Food Science)
• Basic understanding of the winemaking process and sensory evaluation
• Excellent written communication, oral communication, and computer skills
• Ability to work as a team player or independently
• Possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Thrives well under pressure and in a fasting moving environment
• Ability to give direction and take direction well
• Ability to work overtime and have a flexible work schedule especially during harvest
• Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs
