Job Description
Position Summary:
Jack Daniel's Properties Inc. (JDPI) Trademark Assistant helps ensure that JDPI operates at a high level of productivity and efficiency. The Trademark Assistant will provide administrative support primarily to the prosecution and enforcement groups and secondarily to the Managing Director and accounting group at JDPI. This person needs to be able to take initiative, think independently, act with an appropriate sense of urgency and perform tasks of a highly sensitive nature which affect the brands’ valuable trademarks.
Responsibilities:
Support enforcement team by processing protest letters, researching potential infringers and providing evidentiary support
Support prosecution team with research and document production, updates to Anaqua and correspondence with counsel
Provide support to the Managing Director which includes making travel arrangements, scheduling meetings and organizing events
Support Trademark Portfolio Manager with docketing, international customs recordation, filings, renewals and POAs and authorization letters
Create and maintain conflict records which includes uploading case documents and summarizing case reports from counsel and investigators for input into Anaqua
Provide general administrative office support to the IP group, including but not limited to scheduling and coordinating conference calls and group meetings
Assist licensing attorney as needed with drafting and recording of licensing deal memos and long form agreements
Other duties as needed
Must Requirements:
Associate’s Degree from an accredited college. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college preferred
Minimum two years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
Notary certificate or the willingness to acquire notary credentials
Must be able to plan, organize, work independently, think critically, and remain flexible in a multi-task environment
Accuracy and attention to detail are a must
Must be proficient with MS Office products, particularly MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. E-mail is on Gmail platform.
Ability and willingness to acquire proficiency on trademark-specific docketing software
Ability to write and edit written works, to communicate clearly and tactfully in writing in a legal/business format, and to communicate and act with tact, diplomacy and professionalism
Ability to maintain confidentiality in a highly sensitive work environment
Prior corporate experience required and experience with trademarks a plus
