Staff Accountant (Non-Exempt) (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

If you are passionate about craft beer and interested in helping to support our mission, we are currently looking for a Full-Time Staff Accountant (Non-Exempt).

The Staff Accountant reports to the Accounting Supervisor and Director of Accounting and Finance. This position oversees the day-to-day accounting operations of the business including cash, inventories, and month end procedures. Daily tasks consist of managing cash deposits, merchant deposits, and inventory software management. Monthly and quarterly duties will include balance sheet reconciliations and preparing general ledger entries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Manage Cash on Hand
o Prepare and reconcile daily cash deposit to sales and resolve any discrepancies
o Maintain log of cash over/under
o Daily reconciliation of change box
o Monthly Audits of employee banks
o Maintain accurate record of employee bank contracts
o Control of petty cash
o Bank relations: Making change, cashing petty cash checks
• Daily bank reconciliation and settlement postings: Cash/credit Card/Check/Square/Wires
• Daily review of merchant batch settlements, and resolution of any chargebacks/customer disputes
• Reconcile tour house accounts, and third party online tour bookings
• Maintain log for House Comps
• Monthly Reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts to include, but not limited to:
o Cash Accounts
o Credit cards
o Merchant accounts
o Loan accounts
• Assistance with various reports, including: tips allocations, federal and state tax filings, workers comp reporting, etc.…
• Responsible for the preparation of all monthly and Quarterly state excise taxes, sales taxes, CRV, property taxes and other government required compliance returns
• Prepare month end accruals, and assist with month and year end closing
• Prepare accurate and timely reports relating to, but not limited to: Sales data, production, cash flow, costing, inventory analysis, royalties payable, and overhead
• Audit POS systems for accurate pricing, tax collection, and perpetual inventory
• Audit manufacturing work orders for accuracy between packaging and warehouse reports
• Manage Fixed Assets:
o Process payments related to all fixed assets
o Manage related depreciation schedules
• Review work of accounting assistant/clerk to ensure proper general ledger coding and accuracy
• Supervise physical inventory
o Prepare count reconciliation sheets for daily cycle counts, and monthly inventories
o Review, reconcile, and commit final numbers into inventory system
o Calculate monthly inventory valuation
o Assist with resolving any discrepancies in the inventory system as they arise
• Assist with process improvements to maximize department efficiencies

Job Requirements:
• Bachelors degree in Accounting – preferred with 1 -2 years of experience in all phases of accounting and reporting cycles
• Experience with inventory accounting (Required)
• Advanced to Expert QuickBooks skills – 2 + years using QuickBooks (Required)
• Excellent math skills and strong attention to detail are required
• Excellent communication and email skills with ability to build good relationships with customers and vendors
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to partner across departments and work with various levels of management
• Must have strong organizational skills and be very detail oriented.
• Must have the ability to work independently and meet deadlines with accuracy
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, and cost accounting principles including GAAP
• Strong work ethic – strive for excellence, accuracy, efficient, dependable, goes the extra mile
• Must have excellent references
