Tasting Room Coordinator (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Tasting Room Coordinator is responsible for supervising all day to day operations in the tasting room. This includes building brand awareness and exceeding guest expectations by working with and through the staff and other departments to enhance sales, service, and visitor experience. The Tasting Room Coordinator is also responsible for supporting the achievement of revenue and wine club growth goals while supervising staff and operating expenses.

Responsibilities:

•  Supervise Tasting Room staff’s day to day operations.
•  Create a positive and respectful work environment for the tasting room staff, by leading through example, consistent with the Spring Mountain Vineyard values.
•  In the absence of Tasting Room Manager is responsible for the team and manages quality of performance. 
•  Carry out duties associated with opening and closing of the Tasting Room and ensure all regular full-time and regular part-time staff are properly trained on the opening and closing procedures.
•  Support and provide guidance for required training of team and ensures adherence to all policies, procedures and governmental regulations. 
•  Supervise tasks that include but are not limited to:
- Greet visitors and pour wines for tasting.
- Create décor & display image of the facility.
- Immediate and respectful positive and constructive feedback of employee performance
•  Support and monitor the Tasting Room/Retail Sales areas that will achieve yearly budget projections. Make recommendations for increasing sales.
•  POS system and Office application expert with the ability to train staff on the systems.
•  Assist in the maintenance of monthly and annual inventories of all wine and non-wine items.
•  Monitor the Retail Room staff to achieve all Tasting Room/Retail Sales area goals.
•  Monitor wine/non-wine inventories and general maintenance of the Tasting Room/Retail Sales premises.
•  Educate all staff members to a level of proficiency (including temporary support) on the wines being poured and property history.
•  Understand and teach the Sales processes (customer service skills) resulting in club memberships and increased sales.
•  Generate miscellaneous reports as needed.
•  Coordinate special assignments and projects as required.
•  Assist with Hospitality at special events as required.

Working Conditions:

•  Regular working schedule to include all weekends and holidays.
•  Long and irregular hours during peak seasons and/or special events.
•  Moderate to heavy physical work (moving wine cases and retail supplies, setting up for special events).
•  Work site may be any one of Spring Mountain Vineyard venues.
•  Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day).
•  Carrying case(s) of wine to customer’s vehicle after purchase.
•  Washing wine glasses and dishes to keep a clean work environment.
•  Ability to lift at least 45 pounds repeatedly (case of wine).

Requirements:

•  Education: High School or equivalent
•  Experience: Three or more years of winery hospitality or retail supervisory or managment experience. 
•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•  Strong analytical, math skills and proficiency using technology.
-   Computer skills: Microsoft Office and point-of-sale applications.
•  Excellent organizational skills and the ability to follow through on projects with minimal supervision.
•  Enthusiasm for wine in general and Spring Mountain Vineyard property, history and wines.
•  Relaxed, friendly and professional demeanor.
•  Must be a team player and maintain a positive disposition.
•  Able to interact effectively with staff, other departments within the winery as well as agencies/vendors/customers.
