Experienced Landscaper and Horticulturist (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

JOB SUMMARY:

St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and detailed oriented landscaper and horticulturist to lead our onsite garden and provide oversight for meticulous grounds keeping of the winery. The primary purpose of this role is to support and expand our existing culinary produce program and to work with crews to maintain the beautiful appearance of the Rutherford property.

In addition to the production of herbs and vegetables, St. Supéry has over 1200 heirloom fruit trees at our Dollarhide ranch which we use both in house and share with restaurant partners in the Napa Valley. This position would coordinate with the Vineyard representatives and the Winery Chef to ensure quality fruit is available and utilized for our culinary program

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Garden:

 Maintain and enhance St. Supéry’s existing culinary garden seasonal programs with products that are tasty, exciting, unique and useful

 Assist in our judicious farming programs; ensure our Napa Green protocols are followed.

 Coordinate the careful monitoring of disease and pest pressures.

 Collaborate with Winery Chef on garden planning

 Provide leadership in utilizing work force as needed for grounds keeping in addition to the gardens.

 Special projects as assigned by management

 Other administrative duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Excellent organizational, planning and communication skills

 2 years gardening or landscape experience with solid knowledge of fruits and vegetable gardening.

 Experience with espalier a plus

 Ability to manage multiple projects – prioritize, and manage changing priorities

 Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision

 Computer proficiency – Microsoft Office Suite

 Proficiency in English -- strong written and verbal communication skills

 Proficiency in Spanish highly desirable

 Valid California Driver’s license and must be insurable under St. Supéry’s policy

 Walk on uneven surfaces inside and outside

 Stand, squat, stoop, bend at waist and legs

 Sit and operate a computer for at least two hour intervals
