ASSISTANT WINEMAKER - Rutherford, CA
One of our partnering vineyards is seeking an Assistant Winemaker to oversee cellar, bottling, and warehouse operations, reporting to the Head Winemaker. The successful candidate will have at least one vintage of winemaking experience and require minimal supervision carrying out rackings, pad filtrations, transfers, additions, and all other cellar procedures, as well as maintaining sanitary conditions throughout the winery.
Meticulous organization, both in the cellar and in the office, is a must. The Assistant Winemaker is responsible for ensuring stocks of all winemaking supplies are replenished as needed, and for maintaining wine lot records in compliance with TTB regulations. The ability to quickly and accurately count supply inventory (corks, labels, empty bottles, etc.) and present results in Excel format is also essential.
The Assistant Winemaker will be able to safely and efficiently operate a forklift, and will work with the Head Winemaker and tasting room managers to organize the barrel room and warehouse regularly.
During vintage, unlimited availability to work extended hours and weekends is required. Conversely, the successful candidate will know how to use “down time” productively with minimal guidance during slower parts of the season.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring winemaker to demonstrate his or her autonomy while playing an essential role in the production of award-winning wines.
Preferred:
• Spanish proficiency
• Knowledge of TTB record-keeping protocols and wine labeling requirements.
• Experience with basic wine lab analysis
Strongly preferred
• General mechanical ability
• Physical fitness/ability to lift 75 lbs.
• Experience setting up and troubleshooting a GAI/Prospero bottling line
• Passion for Wine!

Salary:
• TBD based on experience. ($65,000-$85,000)
