We are an award-winning, fast-growing winery and vineyard management company responsible for the year-round management of 30,000 vines at prestige vineyards in the hills between Woodside and Los Gatos from a base in Redwood City near the Woodside exit of the 101.
We are hiring as our Vineyard Manager is moving back to Sonoma after several successful years with us.
The Vineyard Manager leads a team of six crew members currently, though we are set for further growth. The standard and expectation is high-quality fruit.
The generous benefits include competitive salary, two annual performance bonuses and paid vacation days.
The successful applicant will have:

Training and experience in viticulture.

Previous team leadership experience or a personality suited to crew leadership.

Readiness and fitness to work four 10-hour days (typically Mon-Thurs) starting at 6.30am in Redwood City, with extra days as required during peak times and harvest. Many long weekends are a big benefit for us early-rising hard-workers.

Ability to handle projects, meet deadlines and do paperwork accurately & on time.

Desire to develop and maintain a positive culture

Ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels

Readiness for spray qualifications and further viticulture education to keep abreast of developments in the industry

Ability to speak some Spanish and good English.

A California driver's license.

Vineyard Manager's duties:
-
The Manager will learn the subtleties of the different sites to monitor and develop the vineyard crew to achieve specific goals, timelines and work quality.

Plan and maintain equipment, materials and tools required for each operation

Supervise vineyard spray program, compliance/safety program and irrigation/fertilizing programs at all sites

Monitor vineyards and manage record and time-keeping of vineyard operations.

Some client-facing duties alongside the Winemaker and the General Manager.

New vineyard construction sites.

Assist the Winemaker occasionally as required.
Our vineyard team's duties:

Pruning, planting, suckering, thinning, training, de-leafing and hedging.

Mildew spraying, weed management and bird netting.

Ongoing repairs to post, trellis, irrigation systems

Monitoring for pest issues including insect, animal and fungus/bacteria.

Hand-harvesting fruit

New vineyard construction

During peak and down times, members of the vineyard team do some winery work including equipment cleaning/maintenance, bottling, labeling, fruit sorting, fermentation prep, wine/must movements.
