J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines is one of California’s leading family-owned and operated wineries, with sustainably farmed, estate vineyards in Paso Robles, Monterey and Napa Valley.
We are looking for qualified production technicians to work in the cellar or barrel room at our Paso Robles Winery. Previous winery experience is desirable. This is a full time position with competitive benefits.
The Production Technician performs general harvest and processing duties. Performs job assignments, operates designated wine processing equipment, keeps accurate records, and ensures work procedures are conducted in a safely and efficiently.
Specific Cellar and Barrel Operations duties may include:
• Cellar production areas: lees press filter, shipping and receiving, tank circulations, wine movements, tank cleaning, and tank gauging.
• Barrel room areas: barrel washing, filling, topping, emptying, tracking.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of barrel and cellar activities and an understanding of how these contribute to the creation of quality wine.
• Excellent communication skills are required in order to work effectively with a variety of people.
• Reading, writing and mathematical skills and attention to detail are required in order to calculate liquid or gas volumes and tank or barrel capacity and read work orders.
• Must be able to wear a respirator.
• Ability to learn to operate a forklift.
• Physical Demands: Standing, walking, bending, climbing, squatting, reaching above and below shoulder level; simple grasping and pulling/pushing with both hands and lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds.
