JUSTIN Vineyards and Winery LLC is a privately owned and operated winery making estate grown and produced wines. The property was founded in 1981 by Justin and Deborah Baldwin when they planted their 160 acre property to the major Bordeaux varietals and created their Estate vineyard.

The winery is located in the Paso Robles appellation of California's Central Coast. The region's first grapes were planted in 1779 by Franciscan missionaries and today are home to the third highest concentration of wineries in the United States.

Their desire is to make world class wines that reflect the unique soils and climate of their California Central Coast property. Emphasis is placed on making Bordeaux-style blends and single varietals, combining Old World tradition with New World techniques.

JOB SUMMARY:

Support lab supervisor and interface with Winemaking and the Production department to support lab, bottling, and wine tracking functions. Under minimum supervision, performs routine chemical analysis while observing the department's safety practices, procedures and quality guidelines.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs routine analysis, but not limited to: TA, ph, FS02, TS02, Alcohol.
  • Operates laboratory instruments such as cash sill, refractometer, density meter, balances, turbidimeter, and other instruments as required to perform duties.
  • Analyzes and processes laboratory samples in a timely manner.
  • Enters test results into the laboratory information management system in a timely manner.
  • Selects and prepares chemical solutions used in the laboratory.
  • Supports the training of new employees and interns
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned by the Supervisor including, but not limited to, sampling, cleaning record clerk duties and special projects.
  • Obtain wine samples from tanks and barrels.
  • Must immediately inform Winemaker or Laboratory Manager of any situation that could jeopardize wine quality.
  • Responsible for understanding all safety procedures including hazardous materials handling, storage and disposal.
  • Responsible for wine production and chemical analysis.
  • Must adhere to all safety procedures and act as a role model to others.
  • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures.
  • Any other duties assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). One year related experience.  Ability to work safe, efficient and in a team environment.
