SUMMARY
Reflecting the spirit, grace and uncompromised courtesy of the Founders, the Guest Relations Coordinator conveys to general visitors, VIPs, dignitaries, retailers, restaurateurs, hoteliers, and distributors the image, style and substance of Opus One. The Guest Relations Coordinator greets, assists and builds relationships with guests, assuring that their visit to Opus One is memorable and unique. Scheduled work days for this position are Fridays – Tuesdays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Develop and conduct trade and consumer tours and tastings, including tours for dignitaries, politicians and high-level executives outside the wine business with data collection in CRM upon conclusion of tours. (45%)
• Facilitate and generate retail sales, including wine-by-the-glass tasting for the public and trade. (15%)
• Act as concierge: welcome guests and act on their special requests, reserve tasting appointments, open and close the winery, book consumer tours and assure the winery is clean and ready to welcome guests. (15%)
• Act as special events captain: supervise catering staff, coordinate wine service, close and secure winery and grounds. (15%)
• Supervise and perform Guest Relations team duties: stocking tasting and retail areas, taking inventories, fulfilling wine shipping requests and opening and closing the cash register and credit card terminals. Maintain inventories of supplies needed for tours (e.g. blue books, press kits, inserts, etc.). (5%)
• Ensure that Opus One tasting areas and all other rooms visited by the public are available, appointed, and meticulously maintained for trade and consumer tours. (5%)
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
• Maintain, update, and expand knowledge of viticulture and enology by participating in educational trainings offered by Opus One and by outside sources.
• Speak knowledgeably about all Opus One representatives, distributors, retailers, and vintages offered for sale at the winery or anywhere in the world, knowing details about Opus One or related merchandise to better assist the customer in the selection of wine or wine-related items.
• Assist in developing educational/training aids for use by the Guest Relations department.
The successful candidate will possess at least two years experience at a winery or wine-related business, comprehensive wine knowledge, public speaking at the collegiate level, and a keen understanding, desire and ability to represent Opus One in promoting its wines and image. Foreign language skills (French, German, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish) is desirable. College education, knowledge of viticulture, winemaking, wine marketing, and wine tasting are also preferred.
Work days for this position are Thursdays-Saturday or Fridays - Sundays.
