SUMMARY:
The Cashiers are responsible for supporting the Visitor Center servers and our visitors in a fast-paced, high traffic environment. They process customer monetary transactions and are accountable for balancing assigned cash registers; maintaining the stock and aesthetic quality of our retail area and assisting in customer queries.
Cashiers may be required to answer customer inquiries about the Chateau and its history, our wines, our Chateau Society Wine Club, our retail products or Wine Country attractions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operates the cash register with particular attention to accuracy of transactions; learns procedures for processing cash, checks, gift certificates, promotional coupons, etc.
Greets visitors at the front entrance; provides a warm welcome and an explanation of our wine service and floor plan
Assists in stocking the retail area; restocks during the business day as required; neatens merchandise and retail area; refills food samples when applicable
Assists wine club members in fulfilling wine club pick-up orders
Answers customer inquiries about Domaine Carneros wines, assists walk-in customers with purchases of wine or retail items
Assists guests with inquiries about area attractions, including other wineries,restaurants, hotels, etc. If time allows, may call for reservations on behalf of guests.
Maintains the retail stock levels as well as the organization and cleanliness of the retail, register and lobby areas.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical requirements listed are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and key responsibilities of this position. Work conditions in certain areas of the vineyard, winery, and Visitor Center are cold, wet, slippery and/or noisy.
Frequent walking, including over uneven ground and climbing up and down stairs and ladders are required. Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, lift, twist, kneel, crouch, crawl, pull, push, carry, grasp, reach and stoop as needed, sometimes for extended periods, and to occasionally lift and carry heavy items up to 40 pounds (may be aided).
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Warm and welcoming demeanor, even under stress
Excellent comprehension skills
Ability to accurately operate cash registers
Ability to maintain composure and accuracy during busy periods when multiple wine requests/cash transactions may be pending
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 21 years of age.
Clean and professional appearance
Flexible schedules to include weekends, holidays and evenings as necessary.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in face-to-face customer service
Knowledge of wines and wine service
Experience in cash register operations
