Position Purpose:

The Vice President of Marketing plans, oversees, directs and is responsible for developing and executing a clearly defined, annual marketing plan in a manner that supports consistent business growth and enhances brand equity and awareness.  Directs the staff and overall marketing function to achieve the Company objectives of alignment, sales, growth, profitability, and visibility.

Functional Responsibility:

  • Creating, communicating, and implementing the organization’s vision, mission, and overall direction
  • Leading, guiding, directing, and evaluating the work of other leaders including assistant presidents, directors, and managers 
  • Formulating and implementing the strategic plan that guides the direction of the business or their area of responsibility
  • Achieving the organization’s overall strategic goals and profitability requirements as determined by the strategic plans
  • Forming, staffing, guiding, leading, and managing an organization sufficient to accomplish the vice president’s responsibilities and job requirements
  • Overseeing the complete operation of an organization in accordance with the direction established in the strategic plans
  • Evaluating the success of the organization
  • Maintaining awareness of both the external and internal competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, new industry developments and standards, and so forth
  • Performing other responsibilities as assigned by the President or the CEO
  • Holding self and others responsible for the demonstrating the company culture through personal behavior and actions

Essential Duties:

  • Develops, manages, coordinates, and executes annual marketing strategies and implement tactical plans that meet and exceed the company’s short-term and long-term objectives
  • Collaborates with the SVP National Sales to develop 18-month pricing and promotions calendar based on the strategic plan by brand
  • Develops unique value propositions, business partnerships, category management, as well as call to action oriented advertising targeted toward key customer segments that increases brand awareness
  • Directs and manages Brand Marketing, Public Relations and Marketing Services
  • Makes recommendations for brand marketing, production parameters and specifications, and stylistic considerations
  • Achieves targeted results and ensures timely and effective execution of marketing tactics and programs in conjunction with sales
  • Develops benchmark criteria to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing programs for  continuous improvement opportunities to achieve the company’s growth and product mix
  • Oversees and evaluates market research and adjust marketing strategy to meet changing competitive conditions
  • Identifies, interprets, and capitalizes on marketing trends
  • Prepares and manages a multi-million dollar marketing budget
  • Coaches, mentors, and raises the team’s ability to deliver and exceed expectations while creating depth and opportunities for succession within the Marketing Department
  • Develops and prepares key messaging and presentation material for executive management
  • Researches, analyzes, and monitors financial, technological, and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities and ensures the Company’s marketing strategies are grounded on solid data prepared by Finance/CICA
  • Works closely with sales, winemaking, and other key functions to create demand and recognition for the Company and its products

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Marketing (or related field); MBA desirable

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 10+ years in progressive marketing roles at the senior management level
  • A track record of performance excellence meeting targets and objectives
  • Strong analytical, planning, forecasting, and budgeting/financial skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiations skills
  • Possess a Marketing and customer service orientation
  • Respectful and outstanding leadership skills that motivates staff to exceed expectations
  • The ability to articulate a vision and strategy in a way that inspires and motivates a team and focuses their energy on achieving business goals
  • The ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes
  • Proven ability to lead a proactive marketing organization and ensure accountability for results that maximize contribution to business objectives
