Tasting Room Ambassador/Representative (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The Tasting Room Wine Ambassador provides guests with an excellent hospitality experience and orients them to the winery and the various programs and products offered for purchase. The position follows established processes and maximizes the guest experience while creating long-term guest relationships, promoting retail sales, acquiring wine club members, providing tours and tasting experiences and maximizing sales.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
•  Educate guests on winery and winemaking practices in a warm and enthusiastic manner
•  Maintain knowledge of current and library vintages
•  Knowledge and promotion of wine club
•  Detailed data entry (proprietary database system) and Microsoft Outlook
•  Host various levels of tours, tastings, and experiences for consumer and trade guests both at the winery and offsite
•  Daily involvement in sales, processing customer transactions, invoicing wine
•  Assist with daily opening and closing duties including wine inventory
•  Maintain cleanliness of the tasting room and other winery common areas
•  Participate and assist hospitality team with various winery events as needed
•  Assist with winery projects, ranging from hospitality to administrative duties
•  Attend and participate in weekly tasting room meetings and other general winery meetings
•  Participate in outbound/inbound phone coverage
•  Provide Wine Club Members extra urgency and priority when visiting the winery
•  Maximize sales opportunities when not servicing guests by creating and perusing new sales leads inside and outside of the winery. This may include contacting current customers, networking locally and in the Bay Area, establishing leads, corporate programs or cold mailing and phone calls.
•  Keep tasting room (including counters) clean and neat at all times. Ensure that all work areas are clean and neat and maintained. Ensure counters are stocked and ready 15 minutes before opening. Assist in the cleanliness of the tasting room entrance at all times (inside and outside).
•  Conduct self as a brand ambassador demonstrating a mature, responsible, respectful, professional, positive and eager approach to internal and external customers. 
•  Assist and represent winery at outside functions, special events and tastings as needed. 
•  Develop new ideas to sell Liana products through tasting room, Internet, phone, wine club or other channels.

EXPERIENCE
•  Must be 21+ years old
•  Knowledge of wine and wine production, with previous experience in Direct to Consumer
•  Strong ability to close sales
•  Excellent customer service skills
•  Professional communication skills written and verbal
•  Positive team player with good interpersonal skills with colleagues
•  Self-motivated and driven to help business delivery
•  Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours and lift up to 40 lbs
•  Must be flexible regarding work schedule- weekends and holidays required as needed
•  Excellent related systems skills including AMS, Word and Excel 
•  Ability to adhere to company workplace guidelines include dress code
•  Fluency in English, Spanish a plus
